Monday Movie Meme – Authentic Business Relationships
After a brief hiatus the Monday Movie Meme is back with a theme shaped by Travis Nichols’ discussion on authenticity: Risky Business.
Share on your blog or in the comments section, movies featuring people who take great risks or pass on a quick buck just to have more authentic business relationships.
Here are my selections for this week’s Risky Business theme.
It’s a Wonderful Life
A business man puts his dreams on hold and risks bankruptcy to save a town from an unscrupulous loan shark in this holiday film starring James Stewart.
Soul Food
“I can find my own damn job!” Those of you who saw this movie know what I’m talking about and the dynamics of the environment, or rather…situation, surrounding this very moment.
On the Waterfront
A dockworker risks unemployment, death and community ostracism by standing up against the corruption of his bosses; in this drama film starring Marlon Brando.
What movies have YOU seen featuring people who take great risks or pass on a quick buck just to have more authentic business relationships?

Shawshank Redemption? I love that movie it is always to answer to every question, right?
My first thought was RoboCop because the main characters are willing to do anything to make money.
Pam,
Having not watched Shawshank Redemption in a long time, I'll just take your word for it as it relates to this week's theme. The movie is a fitting choice for many different topics, as it has contains lots of good lessons to be learned. Thanks for playing along in this week's Monday Movie Meme!
Maurice,
RoboCop is an interesting selection for the "risky business" theme this week. I think I've seen that movie only once (maybe) but your choice brings up one reminder...that greed and business, particularly when it comes to law enforcement, are a recipe for disaster when utilized improperly. For some reason, you now also have me thinking of I, Robot with Will Smith ;) In both films, it seems as though innovations in technology caused havoc in the police department and the communities that they were a part of.
I'm trying to remember if The Secret of My Success fits this. My memory of it is a little muddy, but it's what first jumped into my head. Though I don't know if he's doing it for better business relationships, rather for his own success.
