Monday Movie Meme - The Workout Plan

The theme for this week’s Monday Movie Meme is inspired by the fact that exercising is so rewarding, yet, seems like a chore when you haven’t done it for a while. Film does a body good: The Workout Plan.

Share on your blog or in the comments section, movies featuring people working out.

They don’t necessarily have to be in a gym setting, so long as they are working on maintaining or improving their fitness level.

Here are my selections for this week’s The Workout Plan theme. I have to say, of the three listed here, there is only ONE favorite of mine. Extra points go to whoever guesses which one that could be.

Baggage Claim

A provocative flight attendant sprays water on herself while using a treadmill – to attract some male attention at the gym, in this comedy starring Jill Scott and Derek Luke.

Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Master

It wasn’t enough for Freddy to be chasing Alice down – he took the liberty of interrupting her friend’s workout session for a little roach motel fun in this horror film starring Robert Englund, Brooke Theiss, Tuesday Knight and Lisa Wilcox.

Think like a Man

A speaker on the video screen angers a successful business woman while she gets her treadmill running on in this comedy starring Taraji P. Henson, Kevin Hart and Michael Ealy.

What movies have YOU seen that feature people exercising?

This makes me think of Conspiracy Theory with Julia Roberts and Mel Gibson. Mel's character spies/stalks her and watches her run on her treadmill which comes in handy for a running kind of escape.

Which one of the three above is your fave? Not sure. You've got two comedies and a nightmare *shivers at the nightmare*

I always loved the workout scenes in Boomerang. Funny!

The craziest has to be the one in the Eddie Murphy "Nutty Professor".

Angela,
How in the world did Julia Roberts and Mel Gibson end up as leads in the same movie? I'm going to have to watch Conspiracy Theory. It sounds creepy but I tend to like more of Julia Roberts' non-comedic roles, so this is right up my alley. Yeah, two comedies and a nightmare is all I could come up with on the exercising front and I'm more likely to watch one of them on a boring, rainy, lazy day than the rest...at least so far. Who knows...my preferences might change once I see that Roberts/Gibson flick you mentioned ;)

MJ Joachim,
You are spot on with the Rocky franchise. None of those movies are my radar, yet remain a perfect selection for this week's meme. Great choice!

Sydney,
Boomerang you say?!! Talk about a grand throwback from way back. I haven't watched that one in so long that the only thing that rings the bell is Eddie Murphy's preoccupation with feet. You have me wanting to stream it so I can find the workout scene. You picked well this week :)

Maurice,
You and MJ probably have the best picks so far this week...and with movies that I haven't watched (by choice) even. I was soooo not into those "Nutty Professor" movies when they came out but due to the success of the films, I've seen a few clips and some interviews that covered a few of the character's wild antics. There's just something about the "Nutty Professor" premise and overall representation that rubs me the wrong way.
